Connecting Milestone MCP to Microsoft Copilot Studio

Add the Milestone MCP server to a Copilot Studio agent so you can query engineering data via natural language.

Prerequisites

  • Access to a Microsoft Copilot Studio environment
  • A Milestone account with an active workspace
  • Agent admin permissions in Copilot Studio

Step 1: Add Model Context Protocol to Copilot Studio

In your Copilot Studio agent, navigate to the Tools tab, then click the + button to create a new tool. From the dialog, select Model Context Protocol.

Step 2: Fill in the MCP Server Details

Fill in the required fields as follows, then click Create:

Step 3: Add the Tool to Your Agent

In your agent, go to the Tools tab and click Add a tool.

Step 4: Search for Milestone MCP

In the Add tool dialog, search for the Milestone MCP server you just configured and select it.

Step 5: Create a New Connection

The tool will show "Not connected." Click the dropdown and select Create new connection.

Step 6: Sign In to Milestone

A Milestone login screen will open in your browser. Enter your email and continue to authenticate.

Step 7: Connect to Your Milestone Workspace

Connect to your Milestone workspace and click Allow to grant the required permissions.

Step 8: Add and Configure

Once the connection shows as established (green indicator), click Add and configure to complete adding the tool to your agent.

Step 9: Activate the Connection in Connection Manager

Go to the Connection Manager and click Connect next to the Milestone MCP entry to finalize the connection.
